Home Exchange in UK by Teresa

Teresa is Spanish but has been living in Dublin for almost 20 years. Read her home exchange experience in UK, Cornwall.
Tell us about your remote working life Teresa?
I am a remote worker and work as a financial analyst. I need a proper workspace and big screen as I work with numbers. I also need an office chair to be comfortable when I am working. I also like a quiet environment to concentrate. Peter’s home office really worked for me as he had these facilities (and a second workspace too!).
Why did you consider a home swap?
I don’t have to take long holidays in order to spend time abroad. I find the idea of home swapping very interesting, as you save so much money by not paying for accommodation. I could explore St Ives on the days I was working and go further when I wasn’t working.
Why did you choose your swap destination?
We wanted to travel in August but with the heatwave in Europe, I choose the UK instead.
Peter and I used Swapoffi chat to discuss a few things back and forth before we agreed on a swap, so I was happy about that. He was able to answer all my questions.
How was your home exchange experience in UK?
It was great! I really love Cornwall. You get a great feel for a place with home swapping, compared to staying in hotels or Airbnb. I felt like a local.
This is a very beautiful part of the world that I didn’t know about before. It’s quite close to Dublin so was very convenient to fly to. I didn’t want a five-hour flight.
It was great to be able to talk to Peter before and during our swap. I knew if I had any questions, I could contact him. Their place was lovely too. We could walk to the beach and use their kayak, paddleboard and bodyboard.
Will you swap again?
Yes, I hope more people request a swap with me now I have a good review from Peter. We live in a lovely area in Dublin, near the Dublin Mountains, which is wonderful for walking, hiking and horse-riding – or just driving to the top and looking down over Dublin city and Dublin Bay. If you like hiking and cycling, it’s really good for that too.
